Spending an academic year in the Netherlands gives you an in-depth look into Dutch culture, school life, and everyday routines. Dutch high schools offer a structured yet relaxed environment where education is taken seriously, but there’s still time for fun and personal interests. Unlike in the U.S., students often stay with the same group of classmates for most classes, forming close-knit social groups. Schools encourage independent thinking and respectful discussion, and teachers are approachable and supportive.

By living with a Dutch host family, you’ll experience everyday life from a local perspective. You might help shop at outdoor markets, enjoy traditional meals like stamppot, or celebrate unique holidays like King’s Day—a huge national party in April where everyone wears orange and enjoys street parades, music, and festivals. A year abroad in the Netherlands is your chance to return home more independent and globally aware.

The program cost includes:

• Round-trip international airfare from New York to Europe and South Africa, from Miami to Brazil and Argentina, from Los Angeles to Asia/Pacific.

The program fee does not include:

• Domestic travel from home to international gateway city

• Passport and visa fees
