A semester abroad in the Czechia gives you the chance to live in the heart of Europe and experience everyday Czech life through its culture, traditions, and community. You will arrive in time to enjoy the magic of a Czech autumn, with colorful forests, cozy cafés, and harvest festivals or the beauty of a snowy winter, complete with ice skating, hearty meals, and traditional holiday markets.

Czechia’s holiday season is especially unique: from celebrating St. Nicholas Day (“Mikuláš”) in early December, where children are visited by a saint, angel, and devil, to the festive Christmas markets filled with handmade crafts and sweet treats like “vánočka” (braided bread) and “perníčky” (spiced cookies). Food is a big part of Czech culture, and during your semester you’ll likely try traditional meals like “svíčková” (beef in creamy vegetable sauce with dumplings), “řízek” (Czech-style schnitzel), and “guláš”. Even in just a few months, a semester in the Czech Republic offers a deep, authentic experience, one filled with new flavors, seasonal events, and meaningful everyday moments that will stay with you long after you return home.

• Domestic travel from home to international gateway city
